Today I was phoned by a client with a urgent request. She wanted a gallery for ther website where visitors could vote for the individual photos. I have known of this need, and was working on plug-in already. Because this was urgent I was forced to look for a simpler faster way.

After some thought I came up with a very simple solution, that even generates traffic to your site. Now I have spent alot of time on something that I wont use.

Sometimes we over complicate things which is unneccesary. By Overcomplicating things we are adding stress to our lives and making our goals harder to achieve. This causes us to spend unneccary time on projects, where we can finish projects in shorter time periods ensuring shorter turn around times. Before we take on a project think what you want to do, then sit back and look at the same problem with a different perspective, see what resources are out there that can be put to good use.

“Make everything as simple as possible, but not simpler.”
Albert Einstein

Some ways that work well for me to get a simpler picture is:

1. Step out of the office, go for a walk or go to get coffee or lunch, think it through. There is always a simpler solution than the one you have.

2. Talk to someone about it. I have found this over and over and over again. I would struggle with something and eventually end up asking someone, alot of the times it would be Dirk Strauss, and while explaining it to him I would come across a solution.

3. Write it down, send yourself a email, as soon as you start typing your problem it becomes more clear.

This is but a few ways to do it.

I say if you want to save time, Keep it Simple!

If you have more  ways that work for you, feel free to comment.
